In December 2024, Bridge to Life Ltd., a leader in organ preservation solutions, acquired the VitaSmart™ system from Medica S.p.A. This acquisition includes exclusive global trademark rights and the ability to register the VitaSmart™ name worldwide. Bridge to Life plans to submit an FDA application for VitaSmart™ in early 2025, aiming to expand access to this technology for U.S. transplant centers and organ procurement organizations.
The VitaSmart™ system is user-friendly, requiring minimal personnel to monitor perfusion progress. It does not require blood or blood products, reducing the cost of perfusion. Additionally, it offers quick data download capabilities for patient records and research, and real-time monitoring of perfusate temperature.
By implementing HOPE protocols, the VitaSmart™ system supports a significant increase in cellular adenine nucleotides, which helps reduce ischemic injury and improve organ preservation outcomes
